1. Q. What sort of forklift do I need?
A. The type of forklift you need is governed by where you want it to work, the size and weight of the load and how high you want to lift it. H&F will be glad to conduct a no obligation site survey to determine the correct forklift specification for your job.
2. Q. Is a licence required to drive a forklift?
A. Yes, it is essential that all forklift drivers are trained and hold a valid forklift licence for either a counterbalance or reach truck. Not only does training cover the operation of the trucks but it also provides important safety information.
3. Q. Can I use a forklift truck on the road?
A. Yes, as long as it's taxed and is fitted with a full set of road lights.
4. Q. Do forklift trucks need an MOT?
A. No, but they do need a mandatory insurance inspection at least every 12 months. If you are unsure about this contact your insurance company, or alternatively H&F can arrange for an independent inspection.
5. Q. Why should I have my forklift serviced?
A. Regular preventative maintenance ensures the safe upkeep of your truck and maintains it in good working order. Failure to have your machine regularly serviced can result in minor problems going unnoticed and becoming potentially dangerous or very expensive to repair.
6. Q. How often should I have my forklift serviced?
A. This really depends on how much you use it. Most manufacturers recommend service intervals of 3 months. H&F can help decide the correct service schedule for your truck. Once the details are fed into our service system we will contact you whenever a service is due.
7. Q. Are seatbelts needed on a forklift?
A. Yes, it is a legal requirement. If your forklift doesn't already have them call H&F for a price for supply and fitting.
